Your gut, your core, it's your power base. This is where your decisions and convictions come from. The stronger the base, the better off you are! Become a warrior with a strong core and power center. A weak and unhealthy gut leads to less than ideal decisions, less will power, lower self-esteem, a lot of second guessing, and bad moods. Have you heard that there are more neurotransmitters in your gut than in your brain? And, that what you eat has everything to do with how you feel?
So, if you are merely existing on a diet of coffee, soda (regular or diet), processed food, donuts and chocolate to keep you going throughout your day, OR self-medicating your mood with food (ice cream, bread, lattes) then we need to talk!
And then there is stress. People stress. Work stress. Meeting your quota stress. Dropped the ball and got busted stress. Mommy guilt stress. House is a mess stress. The list goes on. Being in a constant state of stress wrecks havoc on your gut. Too much stress leads to inflammation - which is the root cause of most diseases. But we can change that. It takes work but if you are reading this than you are up for the challenge! And you should be because you deserve it. And, you are the only person that can do it for you.
Here are a few ways to heal your gut:
Avoid processed foods - especially the white bread, cookies, cakes, artificial sweeteners!
Eat healthy fats - avocados, salmon, avocado oil, coconut oil, and olive oil are healthy fats. Fat doesn't make you fat...it keeps you full longer. Sugar makes fat and it is everywhere.
Eat more greens - the darker the better. Hello kale. Hello green smoothie.
Eat more probiotics - sauerkraut, miso soup, full-fat yogurt, kimchi, and kombucha tea are all good sources. Probiotics are good bacteria that line your intestines and are responsible for the absorption of nutrients. They are help with your mood and immune system.
Limit gluten. Try going off gluten for a few weeks and see if there is a difference in they way you feel or the way your body fits. Beware: the more sensitive you are to gluten typically the more you crave it.
Ready to strengthen your core?
PLANKS! Planks are the ideal way to build core strength plus they help bring in your waistline and improve your posture. They are great for the back, gluten, and shoulders, too.
How to Plank:
Start in pushup postion - legs fully extended, no knees.
Bend your elbows so your forearms are on the floor facing straight ahead, palms down.
Your body should be in a straight line.
Engage your core by sucking in your belly button toward your spine.
HOLD this position. Start with 15 seconds. Workup to 1 minute.
Once you start incorporating these things into your day, you will start to notice improvements in your overall sense of well-being, self-esteem, and confidence. And, guess what happens when you are feeling good? People take notice - people/clients are attracted and want to do business with confident, healthy, happy people! Which leads to...more SALES!
So, skip the bread and do more planks!
Remember, before starting any type of exercise or nutrition program, check with your doctor.
